Dureya was one of those places I’ve only heard about and from what I’ve heard it is a VERY FAST hill. So with that in mind, the nerves really did set in. Having down the first section of the hill which is pagoda, I felt I had some knowledge of the hill; but nothing could prepare me for the faster section other than actually doing it.
Friday we loaded up earlier then usual. We made a promise to ourselves we would get to the hills and our events in general, earlier than we typically have in the past, which would be about midnight. It is definitely not the best for unloading and getting set up to be honest. So we arrived at the top of the hill with plenty of daylight to spare, unloaded, got the car tech inspected, and headed to our hotel. Saturday day 1 morning came faster then I anticipated. We had our drivers meeting and took a touring run up the mountain. I really must say the faster section was a bit overwhelming, so my goal for Saturday was to learn as much as I could get a handle on that section before anything by mid day. We had put down some decent times; it was only at the end of the day that we were able to put in faster times because at that point we had gotten more and more used to the hill. Sunday day 2 was more of letting loose because we took all of Saturday to learn the hill and boy letting loose is what we did. We put down our fastest time that day and it was enough to land us 1st in our class. The car really held up phenomenally, I cannot wait to go back and learn even more about the hill to get even faster.Duryea Hillclimb recap Aug 20th-21st
